While there are several issues that give rise to debilitating low back pain, the most common ones may be relieved with massage therapy, acupressure and Polarity Therapy techniques. And these issues typically lead to very tight muscles putting pressure on the nerves.

Low Back Massage Relaxes Tight Muscles

Low Back Massage Relaxes Tight Muscles

We often use hot stones as massage tools to ease muscle tension as well as gentle, assisted stretching techniques while you are on the massage table.  By gently pulling on your legs, giving you some traction, we create a little more space between your vertebrae, which takes pressure off of any nerves that might be being pinched.

There was a study done a few years ago which was published in one of the main medical journals, in which they tested various methods for treating low back pain and sciatica.  They tested standard medical treatment, (consisting primarily of prescribing muscle relaxers), physical therapy, chiropractic, acupuncture and therapeutic massage. According to this study, the most effective treatment was acupressure.  Over the years, our clients have reported that our massage for low back and sciatica, acupressure techniques, has resulted in a dramatic reduction in low back pain.

At the end of the massage, we will typically place an ice pack on your back to cool it down, which helps prevent any swelling and feels very good.  We also typically will show you some easy-to-do low back exercises that are highly successful in aiding to your quick recovery.
